When it comes to temperature, I like to know what I'm settling for. That is why my first mod was the easy swapping of the standard thermostat, which has 5 degree temperature variation, with an electronic thermostat (See digital thermostat mod).
When down in Myrtle Beach, I always found that using the turn knob on the Coleman Mach III was not precise enough and we would wake up at around 4 am freezing.
I looked at buying a module to allow to hook the AC unit to a wall thermostat not to avail, so I went the DIY way. I basically wired a solid state relay on the compressor side of the AC unit, and then hooked the relay to my electronic digital thermostat.
To make it easier to explain, I have made this video.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Hello, I would love to do this on my trailer for the same reason you mentioned, but I'm not totally clear on where all the wires go off the two relays. Do you have a sketch?
